Lakshadweep Islands Lakshadweep is the type of exotic island destination that dream holidays are made of. The azure sea beautifully complements the deep blue sky and the golden palm-lined beaches. While most islands have varying levels of water sports happening around the beaches, some of them are meant just for lounging on the beach. It still retains its rustic charm that you will find endearing. And fresh seas food is just the icing on the cake. 3. Mount Abu As an eclectic ecological hotspot, Rajasthan's only hill station is alive every winter as a holiday destination with its natural beauty and history, and spirituality. The Dilwara Temples of Abu, where the blend of history, culture, and architecture is potent, are no doubt the biggest attractions of the hill station. Add to this a pleasant climate especially in the summers, and you have a thriving summer holiday destination. 4. Mussoorie Mussoorie, a classic charm borne out of its colonial past, rises from the Garhwal Himalayas. Just about an all-season holiday hill station, Mussoorie is a top-of-the-list and much-favoured honeymoon destination. While the bustling hub of the hill station remains Mall Road, trekking in the locality is a highly popular activity. But Mussoorie is truly felt as a restful holiday hill station. Nainital Nestled cosily at the base of Kumaon range of the Himalayas, Nainital is a bustling hill station that was established by the British. The Naini Lake is the centre of all activities. Varanasi The oldest city in the world, and the spiritual capital of India, settled along the western bank of River Ganga, Varanasi is one of the most important seats of Hinduism in the country. A maze-like alley and its riverside ghats are the souls of the city. They make for a fascinating peek into this ancient city's psyche. Every evening, after dusk, these ghats stop all their activities as the superbly illuminated Ganga Aarti charges its spirituality into the evening. 8. Assam The largest of the seven sisters of north-east, Assam is surprisingly easy to reach as a holiday destination. Graced with the rugged aura of unexplored beauty, Assam is a gracious host that will welcome you to experience its vibrant culture, just as unexplored as the natural beauty surrounding it. The Assamese landscape studded with lush wild forests, ferocious rives, and sprawling tea plantations. Do not miss visiting the very teeming Kaziranga National Park to visit the majestic Indian Rhino in its home. 9. Darjeeling This popular holiday destination of north-east India offers breathtaking views of sunrises and stunning panoramas, and remains untouched. The best attractions that Darjeeling has are its toy trains, that are a part of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Take a soothing ride on Asia's longest ropeway that runs between Darjeeling and Rangeet Valley. Darjeeling's zoo and botanical garden will keep you engaged for hours. It is renowned for water sports during the day and for beach parties at night, which turn holidays in Goa into an adrenaline-pumping joyride.
