Overview
The following film “Stree 2 Movie” will proceed straight from where the 2018 horror- comedy Stree cleared out off, back with the gathering of people into the spooky and idiosyncratic town of Chanderi. This time, however, the villagers are up to the new supernatural threat, Sarkata – a terror supposedly more formidable
than Stree herself. The movie will blend seamlessly horror with comedy, keeping audiences at the edge of their seats even as they drive home the laughter.
The amiable yet not so too bright tailor, Vicky, Rajkummar Rao is once again in the center of the paranormal mêlée. Shraddha Kapoor is back again as the mysterious woman, and we do not know much about who she is, friend or foe.
Then there’s Pankaj Tripathi, being his usual wacky “know it all” with his one- liners that are always timely for ghost stories. Other well-known names returning are Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana as Vicky’s dutiful but equally terrified friends, Jana and Bittu.
The new entrant in the cast is Tamannaah Bhatia, who comes into the film as Shama-a character she had briefly shared with in the first film. Her role is going to be a pivot in the mystery unfolding and promises some very exciting news dimensions to the story.
It has some really laugh-out-loud funny moments, so you’re literally laughing through the whole film. The actor, Rajkummar Rao, plays the role of a tailor with supernatural powers to measure clients just by looking at them. He is also the greatest sewing technician ever, and his father thinks that he is another
reincarnation of a tailoring deity. Their discourse about sex is hilarious!
The film is equally such a guilty pleasure when it comes to the ghost who loves to kidnap men in their birthday suits. The camaraderie between the three friends is heartwarming and feels almost like real-life conversations between childhood buddies, and Rajkummar’s clumsy attempts to woo Shraddha will
surely make you smile.
What to Expect?
Stree 2 will certainly maintain the perfect balance between humour and horror, an extremely beautiful ingredient that made the very first film of this franchise a huge hit. The movie launches the mythology of Chanderi but with new mythical variations, and it keeps the viewers aboard with its well-crafted screenplay. The dialogue, which was a highlight in the first movie, is again smart and witty enough to make the landing of humour right amidst the spooky atmosphere.
It’s indeed the more interesting characters and lines in this film which make it a real heart-and-soul film. Pankaj Tripathi plays the local wise guy like a takeaway variety and makes for some impeccable comedy moments. We wish he could have done more screen-time; Aparshakti brings a cynical charm to his role while Abhishek Banerjee delivered a hilarious performance as the man possessed.
Shraddha Kapoor exudes an eerie feeling, and her chemistry with Rajkummar Rao is, for sure. But Rao is the one who deserves the real laurels here because he makes even the most laughable moments believable with his understated performance. The reactions during these supernatural happenings are priceless, and his awkwardness with Shraddha is where humor resides.
Compared to the first film – Stree
While Stree familiarizes us with this weird world of Chanderi and its haunted past, Stree 2 takes forward this universe. The stakes are higher, the frightfulness is more strongly, the comedy more refined, and so on. It answers all that the first film left at the cliffhanger but poses new questions and makes it all a justified continuation of the story.
If you liked Stree for the perfect blend of scares and laughs, then Stree 2 delivers more of the same with added twists and turns to keep the franchise fresh. The film guarantees to be a culminate blend of chills
